La Doganaccia is located in the municipality of Abetone Cutigliano (PT), on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, at the foot of the step of the Arcane Cross.

One of the symbols of the Doganaccia is the little church, a small wooden structure, immediately recognizable by its characteristic shape.

The surrounding area is rich in splendid landscapes, uncontaminated nature and small villages. Furthermore, Doganaccia is located 50 minutes by car from the art city of Pistoia, with its historical and artistic treasures and wide museum offering.

Cutigliano

Characteristic village in the upper Pistoia Apennines, located on a spur close to Mount Cuccola. Worth visiting are the Town Hall square with the Praetorian Palace, built in 1377 to house the Captains of the Mountain, and the fifteenth-century Church of the Madonna di Piazza, which preserves an important work in glazed terracotta attributed to Benedetto Buglioni (around 1510). It can be reached from Pistoia by traveling along the SS6 and SS12 for about 40 km and then, in the locality of Casotti di Cutigliano, turning to the right crossing the bridge over the Lima stream.

Melo

At 1007 m above sea level and just 7 km from the Doganaccia ski slopes, it is the starting point for excursions to Libro Aperto, Lago Scaffaiolo and Corno alla Scale. The area is renowned for the harvest of wild fruits and there are numerous farms and agritourism companies that offer visitors organic products.

Rivoreta

Located in the upper Val di Lima, on the slopes of Libro Aperto, 900 m above sea level, it can be easily reached via the SS12 Abetone, turning right at Pianosinatico. It is based there Museum of the People of the Pistoia Apennines, one of the poles of theEcomuseum of the Pistoia Mountains, which illustrates trades, habits and customs of past centuries.

At 948 m above sea level, halfway up the coast of Mount La Serra, is this summer and winter holiday resort. Just 7 km from the Abetone ski slopes. It is located along the SS12 of Abetone and Brenner.

Pian degli Ontani

The most important location in Val Sestaione, 858 m above sea level, near the foot of the Pian degli Ontani Biogenetic Nature Reserve. She is known for being the birthplace of Beatrice, shepherdess poet, whose ditties aroused the admiration of famous intellectuals and poets such as Tommaseo, Tigri and Lorenzo Borri.

Not to be missed Cathedral Square, which brings together the most important buildings of the city: the Cathedral of San Zeno, with the Silver Altar of San Jacopo, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Ancient Palace of the Bishops, the Palazzo di Giano, seat of the Municipality, and the Palazzo del Podestà, the ancient and current seat of the Court.

The so-called zebra churches are worth a visit, including San Giovanni Fuorcivitas and Sant'Andrea, and Piazza della Sala, a very popular meeting place and home to the fruit and vegetable market and historic shops. 

Pistoia boasts amuseum offering which reflects its historical and cultural richness, with the Civic Museums and the Pistoia Museums.
